Day 1

The Nissan is fill up and the odometer is reset to zero, weather looks great  and get away time is about 7:15 am. Bo was sad to see me leave thinking that he should be part of this road trip, but unless he has his own  service animal I don't think it would work out very well.

Its a nice morning clear weather and no traffic I was able to stick to my theory, the only way to get from A to B is do it as quick as possible with the fewest stops, so with one stop at Davidson halfway between Saskatoon and Regina for gas and a bite to eat I arrived into Regina at 2:30 Alberta time 3:30 pm Saskatchewan time a total  of 7:15 hours travel time.
I'm checking out places near the rink to grab a pregame drink and an appetizer, will be trying a craft beer place called the Bushwakker brewing company downtown. I will get to the rink as soon as the doors open and get a vibe of the atmosphere in Regina.
Will see Gordie after the game hopefully a win against a good team..

Sunrise this morning east of Camrose
Part Two the Game (Pitter Patter)

I have to admit that Saskatchewan has got to be one of the more friendly places, people are friendly while sitting at the bar at the Bushwakker wearing my Rockets Hat it's easy to get a conversation going with the local Regina Pats fans. Once they know you have a son on a team and my story of making a road trip the conversation doesn't end. After a pint of in house crafted lager (which was very good) I was off to the rink. The Brandt Center is located next to the new Mosaic Stadium home of the Sask Roughriders  a beautiful looking stadium. I think the farm and ranch show just left the  rink earlier this week it most definitely has a rural aroma.
It was a full house tonite with capacity at 6,484 and it was the teddy bear toss game so lots of families out to the game.
I'm not going to go over to much about the game other than we won 7-5 and Gordie got an assist and a scuffle (not really a fight) in the 3rd period. Nobody was expecting a shoot out but goal tending by both teams was suspect in the first period. Once Regina knew that they were going to lose it got a bit stupid with lots of penalties.
Again talking with the fans where I was sitting they all were voicing lots of opinions about their team hosting the Memorial Cup and the possibility of a poor showing. Lots of talk about trades etc, the fans here are hockey savy  and are passionate about their team. The couple I sat beside were on a waiting list for season tickets and got them this year after waiting almost two years for seats.
I was good to see a lot of the Kelowna Rocket parents from Sask and Manitoba at the game with lots of cousins, aunts and uncles all there. Most will be making the trip to Brandon tomorrow.

A brief post game talk with Gordie, he's doing good an playing with lots of confidence and getting a lot of ice time. They have a team meal at the rink and head back to the hotel tonite and head to Brandon after lunch tomorrow. Not sure of my plans tomorrow.
Its been a long day but a good day.
