Day 6 Moose Jaw and onto Swift Current
After last nights loss it was back to the hotel and ready myself for my trip to Swift Current.
Before leaving Moose Jaw I explored the Tunnels of Moose Jaw. Back in the days of prohibition the Gangster Al Capone used Moose Jaw as an entry point of bringing whiskey into the Chicago and Minneapolis areas during prohibition. Under neath the brothels of Moose Jaw whiskey was distilled and bottled and shipped on the  adjacent railway. The tour was interesting and  humorous as the tour guides played the roles of  various characters of the era. I was one of four people on the 12:30 tour that lasted about 45 minutes.
Down town Moose Jaw was really vibrant lots of the old architecture is still intact and most buildings are  occupied they are really working hard to keep their main city centre active. The hockey rink is downtown and along with that is a lot of restaurants and shops. It's good to see as many other downtown's in all cities are suffering urban decay.
I also stopped by the Western Development Museum an excellent display of aviation, transportation, agricultural and railway displays. I't is one of 4 Western Development Museums in Saskatchewan with each one having its own theme. I'm glad I stopped in.

West  to Swift Current
More prairie vistas and rolling hills as I headed west to Swift current about 1.45 hours east of Moose Jaw.
Just east of Swift Current  is the Four Broncos Memorial that recognizes the four players from the Swift Current team that were killed in a bus accident on there way to a game in Regina on December 29th 1986. It makes you realize that that we basically hand the responsibility of having our boys and making sure that they are safe and being taken care of. I could not imagine this  tragic event and what the parents and team members having to deal with this.
That Team went on to win the Memorial Cup that year

All teams from the WHL stop by this monument to pay their respects to these players when travelling through the area.

It's a couple of hours before puck drop so will check out Swift Current and see what it has to offer.
