Day 3 -- I'm going to Winnipeg----

I have always said it, now I'm doing it "I'm going to Winnipeg!!"
Said goodbye to my Air BnB hosts in Brandon, and  got on road and headed 2.5 hours east. Another great travel day sunny and clear, most definitely would not want to travel across this area in blizzard conditions.
Not a lot to see except wide open sky and a few trees, you drive for a while and the landscape changes dramatically, from open prairie to bush covered lands., but the closer you get to Winnipeg holy smokes it gets flat and barren, huge grain farms with the steel bins shinning  are always on the horizon and inland grain terminals along the way. |There are parts where the two major railways parallel each other and lots of industry located along the lines.

I got checked into the hotel a block from Portage and |Main "the coldest intersection in Canada"at about 1:00 pm and grabbed a bite to eat at the "Original Pancake House" supposedly a local favorite according to the hotel front desk. I don't imagine the pancakes tasted any different than those from the "Unoriginal Pancake House".
The area I ate at was called the Forks a really cool district sort of like Old Strathcona along a river and a railway. It's where the Red  and Assiniboine  rivers meet but right now its where the ice meets. Lots of shops and restaurants and stuff to see and live music on a nice day there was a lot of people just cruising around.
On my way back I stopped in at the Winnipeg Railway Museum a vast amount of railway equipment and displays about the railways from the late 1800 'to today. It's a huge display in an enclosed unheated rail platform needless to say not many people visiting and the staff  all wear their toques and parkas while showing you around. It was worth the $7.00 admission price.
Also in the Forks is the Canadian Museum for Human Rights a magnificent structure that I will tour around tomorrow.  Looks like I will have lots to see and do before heading west to Swift Current on Tuesday.
